In the western US (and other arid regions around the world), water is becoming more scarce every year, prompting people to get creative so they can maintain the lifestyle to which they are accustomed. One undeniable sign is that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation-now\/2016\/05\/19\/lake-mead-declines-lowest-level-history\/84628000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lake Mead, the reservoir that three arid states rely on for freshwater, hit a historical low point in 2016\u2014with no sign of rebound.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Saving water in laboratories is likewise a simple equation. <a href=\"http:\/\/ww2.kqed.org\/science\/2016\/06\/09\/water-conservation-saves-energy-in-california\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Dilliott, energy manager at the University of California, San Diego, told Mike May of <em>Science<\/em>, &#8220;Energy efficiency in laboratory equipment is extremely important. It\u2019s a major, yet virtually untapped area.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0Often, upgrading equipment is all that is needed, although shopping around for those units you use a lot \u2014 like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.priorclave.com\/en-us\/autoclaves\/benchtop-autoclaves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">table autoclaves,<\/a>\u00a0incubators, and centrifuges \u2014 will save significant amounts of water, energy (and therefore money).
