Supporting Cutting-Edge Research in Australia

The Australian government has been making significant investments in groundbreaking health and medical research. That includes $422 million as part of the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Investigator Grants, announced in 2025, and another $400 million this year through the Medical Research Future Fund and NHMRC Ideas Grants this year. All of this is part of a years-long, $1.8 billion effort to transform health and medical research in Australia.

As MP Mark Butler, Minister for Health and Ageing, noted at the beginning of this year: “The Albanese Government is investing in our brightest minds to push the boundaries of medical research and deliver tomorrow’s health breakthroughs. … [W]e’re investing in bold projects that will tackle some of our biggest health challenges and improve lives across the country … [by] giving Australian researchers the tools to drive innovation that improves care, saves lives, and strengthens our health system for the future.”

Priorclave has a long-running commitment to international research collaboration, and we’re pleased to see new avenues opening to help medical and healthcare researchers doing cutting-edge work.

Supporting Healthcare and Biomedical Research in Australia

We’re well acquainted with the myriad hurdles researchers must clear to get funding, and are eager to help Australian researchers meet eligibility requirements and make their grant application process as smooth as possible. That includes furnishing supporting documentation or making other arrangements to assist applicants.

A major part of any equipment grant (like Australia’s NHMRC Ideas grants) is justifying why a specific piece of equipment is necessary, rather than some alternative. For those needing to demonstrate “value for money,” we can furnish reports, published papers, and other data showing the compelling value of a Priorclave autoclave (especially in terms of reduced utility and maintenance costs).

Likewise, many grants now have sustainability criteria. Priorclave autoclaves are “green from the ground up,” specifically designed to operate with lower water and energy consumption. Priorclave was the first autoclave manufacturer in the world to bear the ACT Ecolabel (a voluntary environmental impact factor label program created and overseen by My Green Lab, and recognized by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the American Energy Society, and the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories). Priorclave water and energy efficiency has been repeatedly documented in the field, with published results in Laboratory Design magazine and other trade publications. Priorclave autoclaves are recommended in the MIT Design Standards for lab design specifically for their energy efficiency.

Why Choose a Priorclave? Custom Lab Autoclaves, Anywhere in the World

There is one way to be sure that your autoclave will perform to your specification: Have it built to your specifications. Our team will help you explore your sterilisation needs and determine the right model and configuration for your tasks, facilities, and requirements. That autoclave will then be hand built, from start to finish, in our London factory. When installed on site, our standard units have a centre of gravity below one meter, so there is no need for seismic restraints or anchoring to comply with building codes like AS 1170.4:2007 (we can assist with compliance documentation or engineering calculations as needed).

Every Priorclave sold in Australia is supported locally by our partners, Bio-Strategy Limited (part of the DKSH Group), with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.

In fast-moving environments where results matter, researchers need equipment they can trust and a partner that keeps pace. Backed by a fast, friendly service network trusted by researchers worldwide, we’re committed to keeping your work flowing smoothly. Get in touch with our team to see how we can support your team.
