Biomaster Antimicrobial Surfaces: Better than Stainless Steel
Your autoclave’s sterilisation chamber is the cleanest place in your lab. But the exterior of your steriliser is a potentially serious source of cross-contamination. Biomaster Protected® Antimicrobial coating actively resists bacteria, mold, and fungi—and it’s only available on Priorclave autoclaves. Every Priorclave autoclave comes standard with Biomaster Protected® Antimicrobial coating.
Stainless Steel Doesn’t Clean Itself
It’s well established that dangerous bacteria can thrive on seemingly clean stainless steel surfaces. For example, one European study found that Campylobacter, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus aureus can all survive on dry stainless-steel surfaces for up to four days.
Nonetheless, the majority of autoclave manufacturers continue to primarily produce autoclaves with stainless steel exterior panels. Not only are these panels a serious potential source of cross-contamination, but it’s also difficult to keep them looking good. Stainless steel panels can show wear quickly, and are susceptible to colonisation by molds and mildews. In addition to causing unpleasant odours, such microbial colonies will discolour—and possibly damage—equipment.
Self-Cleaning Antimicrobial Surfaces
For this reason, Priorclave has partnered with Addmaster (UK) Ltd. to offer Biomaster Protected® Antimicrobial surfaces on all Priorclave sterilisers. Biomaster is the recognised industry leader in inorganic silver-based antimicrobials. Biomaster surface coatings have been tested in thousands of applications, and are proven to reduce the growth of pathogens by as much as 99.99% (including Campylobacter, E.coli, Legionella, Salmonella, Listeria, Staphylococcus, and even antibiotic-resistant bacteria like MRSA). Biomaster coating also significantly reduces the propagation of mould and mildew.
How Does it Work?
Biomaster is the world’s leader in silver-ion technology. The benefits of silver as a natural antimicrobial agent have been known and used for thousands of years. As far back as Hippocrates, silver was lauded for its anti-disease properties. In addition, silver prevents the growth of bacteria without the toxicity of other metals.
Biomaster has taken silver-ion technology a step further, by incorporating it into durable antimicrobial formulations. This antimicrobial and antifungal coating also has virucidal qualities, and is applied to the body panels of our machines to protect against cross-contamination over the long haul. This proprietary silver formulation provides maximum antimicrobial protection for the entire item—and protects it for the lifetime of the product.
Easy Maintenance for Maximum Performance
Biomaster powder-coat finishes are rugged, hard-wearing, and clean up as easily as a whiteboard. Even if the panels of your autoclave are entirely neglected, the Biomaster coating will safely and effectively neutralise lingering pathogens.
Each type of Biomaster surface treatments is individually formulated for specific applications, and independently tested for safety, longevity, and durability. Biomaster coatings don’t leach, can’t be washed off, and are as effective on the final day of operation as on the first. Priorclave is the only manufacturer to offer lifetime protection with Biomaster Protected® Antimicrobial surfaces.
